If you already have a website, you may think you don’t need my services, but you may be surprised at what I can do for your current site. I create my sites with Wix, but am proficient in other website builders, such as Godaddy and Squarespace. I also know how to build a Wordpress website, I just prefer the ease of use that Wix provides.
There are a few things you should do after your web designer completes your website. The first may seem obvious, go to your website. Start by typing the URL directly into the address bar. Now ask yourself, is this the vision I had for my site? While you’re there, check to make sure there are no dead links (you’d be surprised how many of them don’t go where you wanted them to, or to nowhere). Really look at your site for spelling and grammatical errors.
The next thing I want you to do is go to a couple of your competitor’s websites, or even just another business that sells the same product or service you do, and recall your initial impression of the site. Would you buy from these companies? If not, what could be different about the sites, and then go back to your website and ask yourself if the design concepts you find in your competitors’ sites have been integrated into your own site.
The last thing I want you to do is go to a few different search engines, such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing, and type in the name of your company, and some keywords that you would expect a person who wants to find a site like yours would use, and see what comes up. Is your business showing up? On what page? Has your site been added to Google My Business? These are all very important to know, as it does you no good to have a website if people can’t find you. This is where SEO (search engine optimization) comes in. A good web designer will have created many keywords relevant to your business that will be picked up by these search engines. Make sure your business is one of them.
Now that you’ve had a chance to get a feel for your website, you possibly have some changes you would like to make. Did your web designer give you instruction on how to make the changes yourself? Or do you have to have the designer make the changes, possibly at an hourly or monthly fee? If you use me to build your website, I can show you how to make your own changes. But if you already have a website, and were not shown how to make your own changes, I can still teach you how, regardless of the platform it was built on. And if you don’t wish to make the changes yourself, but aren’t happy with your current designer, you should know that you are not confined to that designer. You can often switch designers without having to have your website completely rebuilt. I can often resume a project where it left off.
Websites can be expensive, so you definitely want to make sure you get what you wanted. If your designer has not succeeded in completing the kind of site you had hoped for, call or email me, and we’ll talk about the changes we can make so that your website looks and performs exactly the way you want it.
I look forward to hearing from you.
